Utilized as a protective rind to preserve moisture during the aging process, cheese wax is commonly applied by dipping or brushing the cheese. Offered in blocks weighing approximately 2 pounds, it is accessible in a diverse array of colors.
Contains: Blends of formulated linear and branched hydrocarbon waxes; some contain small amounts of polymer, pigments or dyes.
Primary Applications: A cheese rind for semi-hard cheeses such as Gouda or Cheddar.
Storage Conditions: Store in a dry location below 85°F. Avoid direct sunlight.
Usage Info: Cheese wax should be slowly heated to 160°F to prevent burning. Dip half the cheese in the melted wax, remove and air cool for a 30-60 seconds and then flip and dip the other half. Can apply 2-3 coats. Wax can also be applied with a clean brush. Cheese must be cool and dry at time of wax application for best results.
